ISSEY MIYAKE
THE REVOLUTIONARY CONCEPT
OF PLEATING IN WOMEN'S FASHION
SO EVIDENT IN
THE ISSEY MIYAKE
FALL/WINTER
2013
"PLEATS PLEASE"
AD CAMPAIGN
PHOTOGRAPHED BY
JULIA NONI
INCLUDING THE STORE CONCEPT

"PLEATS" WAS INTRODUCED BY ICONIC JAPANESE DESIGNER ISSEY MIYAKE
AS FAR AS 1989 AND HAS BEEN DEVELOPED OVER THE YEARS APPEARING
IN EVERY FASHION SEASON.
BY 1993 IT WAS READY TO BE LAUNCHED AS A COMPLETE STAND-ALONE
BRAND APPEARING AS THE MOST FUNDAMENTAL CONCEPT BY JAPANESE
DESIGNER ISSEY MIYAKE WHERE THE VALUE OF THE DESIGN LIES IN THE
INTEGRATION IN TO THE EVERYDAY LIFE OF THE WEARER
THIS IS CLEARLY DEMONSTRATED IN THE DEVELOPMENT AND EVOLUTION
OF TRADITIONAL TEQNIQUES OF PROCESSING AND PLEATING OF MATERIAL
IN TO A HIGHLY FUNCTIONAL "MODERN PROJECT"
LIGHT IN WEIGHT AND EASY TO WEAR AND HANDLE
